Meet the team
Meet Leslie and Shelby
Upscale Social began in 2021 with a new mom who refused to choose between providing for her family and using her creative gifts. Founder Leslie Martin launched the business during COVID, with a simple conviction: people would still come together, and they would want those moments to feel special.
Leslie saw a gap in the market. Parents and planners wanted modern, elevated party decor, and almost nobody was doing it with real design sense. What began as a passion for beautiful birthday parties grew into one of Austin’s most loved balloon and backdrop studios, all while Leslie welcomed two more children.
Shelby Thurston acquired Upscale Social with the intent to take it to the next level, drawing on her background in luxury corporate marketing and events. Shelby was first introduced to Upscale Social as a client in 2024 and fell in love with being part of the lifelong memories customers make as they celebrate the joys in life.
Together, Leslie and Shelby keep the same design first approach and the same obsession with the details, while growing the team, expanding the rental collection and bringing Upscale Social to more celebrations than ever.

What is your booking minimum?
Our minimum for bookings within a 50 mile radius of Austin is $750. If your event is more than 50 miles away, a $3,000 minimum applies.
How much does balloon decor cost in Austin?
Upscale Social installations start at our $750 minimum. Final price depends on the size of the design, balloon types, backdrops and rentals, and your delivery address. Our Hire Us form collects everything we need for a custom quote.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Pflugerville, Leander, Hutto, Liberty Hill, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Dripping Springs, Kyle, Buda and San Marcos.
Can you match my colors or theme?
Yes. We create design mockups with digitally color matched balloons, and our team designs custom signage to match your theme, invitation or brand.
Are you insured?
Upscale Social is fully licensed and insured. Certificates of liability insurance are available on request by email.
